Ford Donates $1 Million to Smithsonian National Museum

Ford has agreed to donate $1 million to the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture in celebration of its richness and diversity of the African American experience. This donation builds on its long support of African-Americans and its 40-year relationship with the Smithsonian institution. This donation will support the museum’s capital campaign and will go towards funding key programs when the museum opens the National Mall in Washingston D.C. in two years. Jim Vella, Presiden of Ford Motor Company Fund and Community Services said, “Since Henry Ford’s groundbreaking $5 a day wage in 1913, which paid people equally regardless of race, Ford has invested in programs that empower and celebrate the African American community.
