Football Playoffs

Last week Maxwell defeated Quincy at home, and will now host Etna at 6pm tonight.
Colusa took the win over William last week, and will now play Hamilton City in Colusa tonight at 6pm as well. Go out and support our local High School teams in search for a victory to play in the Championship game next Wednesday.

Hoblit Motors -Marcos Campos

Marcos Campos is a Car Sales Consultant here with us at Hoblit Motors Ford. Born in Butte County, Marcos soon moved to Gridley where he graduated from Gridley High School. Marcos is married to his wife Flor and has now lived in Gridley for 34 years. Marcos enjoys watching football and baseball, horseback riding, going to rodeos and visiting Bodega Bay.
Previous to working in the car business, Marcos did construction and also worked in the Agricultural industry. He has now been with us four months and enjoys the fact that every day is different, the people he meets and the joy of finding his customers the right vehicle. Marcos is proud of his Mexican heritage and speaks Spanish fluently.

What is new in the 2014 Escape

2013 vs. 2014

 

Ford made a bold move in 2013 and changed the body style of the Escape. It turned out to be one of the best moves Ford could have done, because now it is one of the best crossover SUV's in the US.

Although Ford made no major changes to the body style, here is what's new in the 2014 model:

 

-Back-up camera and SYNC is standard in all models

-The SEL model has been discontinued

-Full leather seats, Rear Parking Aid and 1.6 Liter engine instead of the 2.0 Liter engine is standard on Titanium model, still have the option to add the 2.0L Ecoboost

-The SE model now features 10 way power seats, instead of the previous six way.

-SE convenience package now features Dual-Zone Temp. Control, Rear Parking Aid and MyFord Touch

-Optional Hands-free Lift gate with the 3,500 pound towing package

Hoblit Motors 1949

Hoblit Motors Ford was first founded in Colusa in 1949 by Morley Hoblit “MD” and Wayne Hoblit in a 50/50 partnership. Wayne bought out MD after a 20 year partnership due to health issues in 1969. Some cool facts, in 1949, the average car cost $1,650, gasoline was $36 cents/gallon, bread was 14 cents/loaf and minimum wage was 40 cent/hr.

Wayne had two children, Beverly and David. After serving in the US Air Force, David returned to Colusa to work with his Father at the dealership. David transitioned into ownership in the 1970′s. The eldest of Dave’s three sons, Chris, joined with his father at Hoblit Motors after graduating college. Wayne is still involved in the leasing program here at Hoblit Motors.

Now in 2013, the average car costs approx. $30,000, gas is almost $4/gallon, but thanks to Ford, we have fuel efficient vehicles such as the C-Max and Fusion Hybrid. How to Winterize your car

With Winter right around the corner, we wanted to give a nine great tips to make sure that your vehicle is safe for the upcoming weather changes.

1) Check the freeze point of your Anti-Freeze - If it is not the correct ratio of water to anti-freeze, it is suggested to flush it to the correct ratio. If this is not done, it could result it cracked blocks.
2) Have your oil checked - Oil tends to get thicker in colder weather, so you need to make sure you have the proper oil to lubricate your engine.
3) Tires - Make sure that your tire pressure is correct and that there isn't a significant amount of wear.
4) Air Filters - Need to be clean.
5) Belts and hoses- Especially your serpentine belt, which is your fan belt.
6) Brakes - With rain and snow, make sure that your brakes are in good shape. Switch to snow tires if needed.
7) Wiper Blades- Your visibility is not only essential to your safety, but also to those around you.
8) Four Wheel Drive- If you haven't used it during the summer months, have it checked that it's in correct working condition.
9) Battery - Check for corrosion and that it has plenty of water.

Dave Hoblit

 

Dave Hoblit attended UC Davis and after graduation joined the United States Air Force due to the draft during Vietnam. Dave attended pilot school in both Texas and Oklahoma before he was based out of Travis Air Force Base. As a pilot for the next three years, Dave flew a C141 -Revolutionary Plane making several classified missions to Iran, Vietnam and Madrid. He was also instrumental in taking the time to get supplies to various destinations from 54 hours down to only 16 hours. His first flight was around the world in only five days - a classified mission to Iran. Dave also flew several trips hauling arms to company bases. Dave was in Saigon 2 weeks prior to the collapse in 1975 by the People's Army of Vietnam and The National Liberation Front. He returned to Colusa after his tour, joined the Reserves for another 6 years and entered into the family business with his father Wayne Hoblit at Hoblit Motors. Wayne Hoblit

 

Wayne Hoblit joined the US Air Force at age 18 in 1942. Based in New Guinea during World War II, Wayne flew a single pilot plane, the Douglas A20 Attack Bomber as well as the B25 Bomber doing air to ground combat. At age 21, he flew 72 different bombing missions in protection over Australia. These mission only had a 50% survival rate. Wayne spent two and a half years in New Guinea, finishing his service in the Philippines. After a total of 4 years in the Air Force, he joined the Reserves for another 12. Wayne moved to Colusa from Billings Montana in 1949 to open Hoblit Motors with his Father Morley Hoblit "MD". Wayne is currently 90 years of age and still visits Hoblit Motors weekly.

Veterans Day @ Hoblit Motors

Happy Veterans Day! Hoblit Motors Ford would like to not only thank all Veterans for serving, but also our own employees that had served for our country. In celebration of this Holiday, we will be showcasing our own Veterans throughout the week.

      

J Park served honorably in the US Army actively from 1989 to 1992 in the 3rd Infantry-64th armor division, based in Schweinfurt, Germany. And was a M1-A2 Tank Gunner with the 82nd Airborne Unit during Desert Storm in 1992. J was also with the 7th Psy-Ops Group during his Army Reserve days as a Psychological Operations Officer. And now with almost 19-years in the auto industry, he is the Finance Director here at Hoblit Motors, serving the community as a Committee Member for the Venture Crew-200 (BSA), a boy-scout affiliate for the kids with disabilities and as a Freemason and member of the Yuba City Lodge. Thank you J for serving for us!
