Wayne Hoblit


 
Wayne Hoblit joined the US Air Force at age 18 in 1942. Based in New Guinea during World War II, Wayne flew a single pilot plane, the Douglas A20 Attack Bomber as well as the B25 Bomber doing air to ground combat. At age 21, he flew 72 different bombing missions in protection over Australia. These mission only had a 50% survival rate. Wayne spent two and a half years in New Guinea, finishing his service in the Philippines. After a total of 4 years in the Air Force, he joined the Reserves for another 12. Wayne moved to Colusa from Billings Montana in 1949 to open Hoblit Motors with his Father Morley Hoblit "MD". Wayne is currently 90 years of age and still visits Hoblit Motors weekly.
